Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions

Do you suffer from decaying, damaged or broken teeth? Dr. Parker and Dr. Miner at Back Bay Family Dentistry can help. Some teeth become so damaged and decayed that they cannot be saved using fillings or crowns. Other times patients have a traumatic dental experience and the tooth is broken upon repair. In these situations, we recommend a tooth extraction, to help prevent further decay in the mouth.

Due to the removal of teeth causing issues with chewing ability, shifting of teeth, bone loss and much more, we always recommend other treatment options if possible and replacement of the extracted tooth. Bridges and implants can be used to replace the tooth or teeth if necessary.

What Can I Expect at My Tooth Extraction Appointment?

The first step to getting a dental examination and hygiene visit is to contact Back Bay Family Dentistry and request an appointment. During your dental examination and hygiene appointment, Dr. Parker or Dr. Miner will:

  • At the time of extraction, the doctor will need to numb your tooth, jawbone and gums that surround the area with a local anesthetic.
  • During the extraction process you will feel a lot of pressure. This is from the process of firmly rocking the tooth in order to widen the socket for removal.
  • You feel the pressure without pain as the anesthetic has numbed the nerves stopping the transference of pain, yet the nerves that transmit pressure are not profoundly affected.
  • If you do feel pain at any time during the extraction, please let us know right away.

If you are suffering from decaying, damaged teeth, contact Back Bay in D’Iberville today and schedule an appointment with Dr. Parker or Dr. Miner. We look forward to helping you!
