How to Keep Teeth Clean Between Meals

Dec 27, 2017

It seems like people who want whiter teeth and are overall health-conscious, are always looking for ways to keep their smile clean and healthy between meals. Thankfully, it’s not that hard to do!

Snack Healthy

If you snack all day long, especially on sugary foods, that means that food and bacteria-causing sugar stick to the surface of your teeth for hours on end, instead of just during meals. Try to keep your snacking to a minimum if at all possible, and when you want to snack, try and reach for something that has a lower sugar content than most candy! Choose teeth-healthy snacks like fruit, vegetables, nuts, and even cheese!

Brush & Floss Your Teeth

Brushing your teeth is the best way to remove food particles and harmful bacteria from causing bacteria. After each meal or snack, it’s best to give yourself a little tooth-brushing or flossing to make sure you get those pesky food particles out from in between your teeth.

If you have your toothbrush with you, even at a restaurant after a meal, you can still brush your teeth. You don’t need toothpaste to brush your teeth if you’re on the go! A good brushing with just water and a toothbrush is enough to clean your teeth after a meal. Of course, you will still want to use toothpaste in the morning and night before you go to bed.

Chew Sugar-Free Gum & Drink Plenty of Water

Chewing gum helps you to produce more bacteria-fighting saliva, and drinking water helps to rinse any food particles or sugar away from your teeth. This strategy is extremely effective to combat sugary drinks.
